Co-creator of both Judge Anderson and The Kleggs, Bolland’s highly detailed style unfortunately precluded him from doing many sequential strips — although he found the time to pencil both Camelot 3000 and Batman: The Killing Joke for DC Comics. Bolland also contributed "A Miracle of Elisha" to Knockabout Comics' Old Bailey OZ Trial Special, written because Old Testament history had piqued the interest of Bolland when living near the British Museum.

As the Dredd stories rose in popularity, they "were moved so they started on the middle pages" with a colour double-page spread, which Bolland "always struggled with" [20] finding it "very difficult. By contrast, Brian’s artwork was scattered to the four corners of the globe—and not always legally—so the task of finding it was far more demanding, let alone the logistics of arranging scans. Coincidentally, when a time travel story arc saw Bolland's work coincide with the plot in such a way that he was able to produce a recreated cover from an alternate angle to shed new light on an initially inconsequential image.

Multiply that by 100, since few collectors owned more than a single page of Brian’s art, and you’ll get some idea of the scale of the project.

Interested particularly in drawing the costume, which he feels "has to be one of the sexiest in comics," he soon found the character removed from her normal costume in the storyline. Once a page had been found, the process of acquiring a scan could begin; this is a highly complex, delicate procedure, known in the business as shameless begging, and might involve selling the book's concept (which often worked), asking very nicely, or offering inducements. The word balloons have become transparent over time, perhaps from the glue used, and allow the reader to see the art underneath. It became almost habitual, and it did mean that there would at least be something new of mine out there to look at.I forgot to mention of course that this was conducted during a worldwide pandemic, just to add a little spice into the proceedings, but again I came back to that first, key question; and even allowing for the difficulties involved, I really, really wanted to hold this book in my hands.
