About this deal

She has the info, she just... wants to re-invent the wheel and do it her way?? I don't know anymore. She used to be about trying out the historical techniques. This is from someone that wrote a sewing manual... I don't know. But then again...I get really irritated by Americans who think they're so much better than the rest of us because they drink tea and have seen an episode of The Great British Bake Off. They completely romanticize English culture, and she in particular idealizes Victorian England. Yes, in Victorian England the clothes were lovely. There were also no labor laws so six year olds were working in factories for fourteen hours a day, women had very few rights, and there was rampant colonialization going on all over the world. It wasn't Downton Abbey for everyone. And people like her always look down their noses at the rest of us Americans, who are so uncouth with our ~fast fashion~. Ever heard of Top Shop, Bernie?

she is going to bump into Cathy at an event in the spring and it will be AWKWARD. Possibly cause drama on social media. a b Hyde, Jen (3 January 2020). After that, she did an internship for Tony Award-winning costume designer Jenny Tiramani at the School of Historical Dress in London. [13] She formerly worked as a costume assistant for Broadway, and later on a parody preview video of the Broadway musical Frozen. [3] Anyone who watches 5 minutes of her video wonders if she *really* lives every minute of her life like an authentic 1800s heroine, and if she uses modern inventions like microwaves or tampons. Also-also Venus in Winter isn't a romance novel, it's trashy historical fiction. That one's not our fault!) a b Gioia, Michael (8 December 2014). I'm not trying to look down on Americans, I'm just asking if this is normal in the US. And if it is, I understand why. I live in a small town and I can easily cross a XV century archway or walk over a roman wall everyday, so I am "used to" ancient things. In the US this kind of old things are not as available so I get why anyone would be amazed (just as I was amazed when I saw real dinosaur fossils, not common in my hometown)The point is that she was constantly talking how she loves READING, that she can't live without books, constantly shows off super hard books to read ( I follow her on GoodReads too btw). And she even wasnt reading them - listening on Audioble. Its quite strange tbh that such a book worm wont read Jordan. To like or not to like - this can apply only after reading. When I said that she liked the simplified horrible script TV series, and could not stretch her mind to read the books by the author because it wasnt following the script of the tv series, I mean that she is faking herself a lot. It's a great point that the Christmas confusion doesn't make sense given how UK obsessed she is. I still don't understand how she grew up in America and claims not to understand basic information about one of the country's biggest holidays. At best, it's hypocrisy. At worst, it's her intentionally joking about a genocide and the victims, misrepresenting an oppressed people, etc so she could joke about the funny hat. Oh, and she's making money off it. What I can say about this book, is there for just from my own POV. I have very little experience with sewing, but I've always found it a relaxing thing to do - I embroider and cross stitch - and have been wanting to branch into sewing for a while now. Mainly to make a quilt, but now I also have some ideas as to how to modify some of the clothes I don't use often but deeply love. In terms of her isolating and cutting people out... that's something that is really common for people who put on such extremely curated personas. People before have mentioned she was so very different as "Erica" and I'm sure her rich girl- modern fashion student living it up in New York was very different from this weird Historian personality she adopted out of nowhere. Maybe she's managed to keep it super secret from day one of her youtube channel (which makes it more suspect that she grew organically) but it doesn't really seem like she has much of a circle of people from her life before the hobby.

Someone here mentioned that she liked Ren fairs and her Moiraine cosplay would fit right in. But are there Ren fairs in the UK? From what I heard it's an American thing (I certainly wasn't familiar with the concept pre-YouTube, it's not a thing in my country). Kind of sad if she isn't be able to actually wear the dress. Whether you are just getting started with sustainable fashion and need to alter your new secondhand finds, or you want an introduction to sewing techniques for making your own clothes, Bernadette Banner’s signature voice will guide you through all the traditional stitches and techniques you need to extend the life of your favorite pieces and take fashion into There’s also this quote of his: “Between one-third and one-half of all Aes Sedai (possibly somewhat more) are either gay or (mainly) bisexual to one degree or another,” the author said in his notes on Aes Sedai. “This is in large part because relationships with men are exceedingly difficult: men age and die, [and] many men find a relationship with a woman so powerful difficult.” At first I thought she was a breath of fresh air and I really liked watching her sewing projects and research videos. And still do when she puts them up! But I also started to feel like she's snobby unfortunately. I mean it is possible that there just isn't that much to tell. I get that the nature of this forum is to hope there's some juicy secret just waiting to come to light, but it is entirely possible that there isn't much there beyond the usual embarrassing teenager stuff that most of us would rather leave behind when we grow up.Bernadette Banner is a filmmaker and dress historian, best known for her YouTube channel documenting the exploration, reconstruction and interpretation of historical dress. Her work focuses on English and American dress predating the widespread use of the electric sewing machine, with a particular focus in the years of dress between 1890 - 1914; all reconstruction work is done by hand or with the use of period authentic machinery. I mean that is so pithy (is that the right word) to take down those sewing videos, hoping her skillshare class would sell better. That is just cheap. Honestly what landed me on this forum was Googling if anyone knew her from high school. If there was any sources from the "before" time that BB supposedly has a medical reason for not remembering. Unless she was home schooled? Like someone has got to know who she was before this persona.

Be aware that the author is a proponent of hand sewing everything, and if you want more information about making something using a machine, this may not be the book for you. You can certainly adapt this guide to using your machine, but that's not the audience most of this book is written to. A significant area investigated by Banner has been the accuracy in reproductions of historical clothing, for example in films like Little Women (2019) and Beauty and the Beast (2017). [8] In addition, she has also been featured by Glamour as commentary for an analysis of Mary Poppins' dressing. [9] In 2019, a 15th-century-inspired gown Banner made was poorly copied and sold by an online merchant using Banner's photo [10] in the sales listing. Banner bought the dress and made a public video in which she criticized its poor construction. [11] Case in point from earlier this week: her Insta stories about schooling the people who send her mail, and how dare they think she would touch anything their common hands would send to her. She cannot get out of her own way. She is a rude snob. And I *know* she read Harry Potter, and there’s a lot of Christmas in that. That’s where I found out what Yule was.
