About this deal

The distribution of points between the elite options and the infantry allows you to have a warband around 7 to 8 models, allowing to out-manoeuvre most other warbands. These dudes are blenders. Fast moving, 4+ save with four wounds, They shut down enemy commands in the combat phase and if you’re going second, you add one to wound rolls. Again, I love these models, so they’re an include for me. They’re mostly self-sufficient now too, they don’t want a shaman near them helping them out. I’m pretty much always going to be taking 3-6 of them. Beasts of Chaos Tzaangors Guided by the Future requires a Triple because it does not have any range limitations and up to 8/11 damage on a 20” range is indeed quite powerful.

I started by painting the flesh with Citadel The Fang. I then washed the model – the top was washed with Drakenhof NIghtshade and the bottom was washed with Druchii Violet to give it more of a purple hue. I then began painted the flesh with lighter layers, painting the lower body with a mix of white and Xereus Purple and working up on the upper body with mixes of Reaper Snow Shadow and The Fang. The general process I’m using for this is basecoat -> shade -> highlight with the original basecoat -> highlight with lighter shades. The best Acolytes are blessed with boons like occult scrolls or Vulcarchs, magic-hunting carrion birds. Tzaangors act as cheap rank-and-file troops for Tzeentch-dedicated forces, though they have several fast, powerful elite units such as the Tzaangor Shamans, Tzaangor Enlightened, and Tzaangor Skyfires. Acolytes and Tzaangors were also available in the game Silver Tower (of the Warhammer Quest series) so it’s possible to find multiple guides online. The Tzeentch Arcanites can be found mostly in 3 boxes, unfortunately there is no Start Collecting or other discounted box available at this time. Use a copper/gold paint, like Brass Scorpion, Retributor Armour or even Liberator Gold to paint the metallic components of the Tzaangor Enlightened. This includes their weapons, armor trim, and any other designated areas. Take your time and aim for smooth, even coverage. It can be really situational and most of the time you have enough range to dispose of your targets but considering this Acolyte is the cheapest unit in the warband it’s a useful addition.

We don’t like birds: Curseling, Fatemaster, Kairic Acolyte with Vulcarch, and 5 Acolyte with Paired Cursed Blades for an almost entirely human warband. These Beastmen have served their Sorcerer master tirelessly; some have even fallen to a cursed spawn-change in the process, becoming bestial in mind as well as in body. But their reward is finally here. I was hoping for more of a revision on this unit – notably removing mortal wounds from range en masse like they can be but they still do that and still have Power of Hysh which is the same as before. We’ll have to see what – if anything – is dont to Lambent Light. Vanari Bladelords I took a fairly simple approach here, and used it as an opportunity to experiment with some Ghost Tints. All of the armour and weapon handles were coated with a base layer of Vallejo Metal Air Gold, followed by a wash of Reikland Fleshshade and the a drybrush of Liberator Gold. To add some colour, I alternated brushing on Ghost Tint Fresh Blood and Midnight Blue, in the recessed areas of the armour. In serving Sorcerer masters, usually of the Thousand Sons Traitor Legion, they may earn the chance to elevate themselves above their earthly stations, but in truth such occasions are rare, for a streak of cruelty lurks within the warlike soul of every Tzaangor. The Enlightened also have their own special ability: Guided by the Past that for a Triple behaves similarly to the Skyfire ability but you need to choose a miniature that already activated that turn. Unfortunately, the abilities of particular interest end here as Master of Destiny needs to use an awful high amount of dice to pump the Tzaangor abilities up to 6 and the Guided abilities are really situational.

Chaos Rhino • Chaos Predator • Infernal Relic Predator • Chaos Vindicator • Chaos Land Raider • Chaos Land Raider Proteus • Infernal Relic Land Raider Achilles • Land Raider Hades Diabolus • Relic Sicaran Battle Tank • Maulerfiend • Forgefiend • Defiler • Brass Scorpion • Blood Slaughterer • Blight Drone • Foetid Bloat-drone • Kytan • Plague Hulk • Venomcrawler • Myphitic Blight-hauler The OG activation wars bull, the Taurus hasn’t changed at all since last updated. It does D3 mortal wounds on a 2+ to enemy units and they strike-last. I used it quite a bit before, but I wonder how much utility we’ll get out of it when Gors can make units strike-last now. Obviously this one is more dependable once you get it on the field – it just automatically makes enemies strike-last instead of on a 3+. The main part that I experimented with was using contrast paints over the silver colors on the disc and weapons. I used Talassar Blue over the ends of weapons, and Magos Purple, Leviadon Blue, and Volupus Pink over the discs. I have to say that Magos Purple really doesn’t show up well. I also did the Tzeentch fire underneath the bases with these colors.I love the idea of making this huge thing a Priest, and I like that it hits easier with the artillery, but I just don’t know if it’s worth the 68% points increase here, especially with the range reduction that then puts you in threat range of a lot of stuff. Play BoC if you love goats, you’re an anarchist, or you’re just a fan of the beastman fantasy archetype. They have always been able to ambush people – jumping out of the forest and surprising your enemy – but this new Battletome allows you to do that with your entire army . Bloodletters • Plaguebearers • Horror of Tzeentch • Daemonette • Nurglings • Beast of Nurgle • Plague Drone • Flamer • Screamer

Army Weaknesses

The other two seem like they’d be harder to pull off – one requires you to go against the nature of the units, and the other is just difficult. Flanking Warherd requires you to have 2 or more Wareherd units within 9” of the battlefield edge. Warherd units are bullgors, gorebulls, ghorgons, and cygors. These units generally want to tear up the enemy units in the middle of the field – I don’t see them hanging out near the edge. The other, The Age of the Beast, requires that you have 2 or more Cygors or Ghorgons on the battlefield and none of them have more than half their wounds allocated to them. While both of these units can heal during the game, they’re 5+ save 16 wound models – I don’t see it happening. Delicate –Your armor saves are on the whole pretty terrible so while your shooting is superb if the enemy closes the gap you’ll probably fold pretty fast The new battletomes haven’t been announced, but they must surely be on the horizon. We’ll see soon enough. The much-maligned Cygor gets a buff in the Quakefray, a new Greatfray for this Battletome. Cygors become Priests, the only Priest that BoC have access to. Their prayer does mortal wounds to objective holding units and makes it harder for them to hold said objective. One of the biggest changes for herd generals will be Primordial Call Summoning going away. It was fun while it lasted, but to be honest with the other changes to the faction I don’t think I’ll miss it. Compared to the other chaos factions, the summoning mechanic was more disjointed. Tzeentch likes it when spells are cast, Khorne likes it when stuff dies. Meanwhile, beasts were given points for different seemingly disconnected actions. While bashing the skulls of weaker Ungors as tribute certainly felt flavorful, the idea they all stood in a queue waiting their turn was a bit goofy. It’s a big hit if you liked a big summoning army but it hasn’t been replaced with nothing.
