About this deal

This is designed to keep everything in place, but in reality, we think it’s pretty unnecessary and just ends up getting in the way. When compared to the Talon 22, the only con I can find from the Osprey Daylite Plus is its size in terms of cold weather hikes or if you need to pack lots of technical gear. That said, given its casual day hiking slant and that fact that you likely won’t be loading it down or depending too heavily on the hipbelt, this isn’t a deal breaker for us. We particularly enjoyed using it as a personal item while flying, because it was a perfect size and is easy to get into.

If that sounds like your cup of tea, great; otherwise, consider heavier and more well-featured packs. In all likelihood, you will be using your Osprey Daylite Plus to safeguard your most important possessions. The Daylite Plus shines on its own for daily needs and adventures, as well as continuing to meet the needs of travelers in need of additional carry options. Both backpacks offer durable and lightweight construction, as well as a multi-use design for hiking, travel, and daily carry. This can add a bit of bulk to the front of the pack—which we’re not huge fans of—but it’s an interesting addition that could come in handy depending on your use case. Every traveler knows that having a good daypack along on your backpacking adventure is VERY important. We’d recommend utilizing packing cubes and accessory pouches to keep everything organized, but it’s a small enough pack to get away with casually stuffing gear inside too. Both use simple webbing hipbelts rather than padded designs, are only sold in one size, and have similar organization options including compatibility with 3-liter reservoirs (sold separately).

The first major difference between the Osprey Daylite and Daylite Plus are their sizes which for many people doesn’t become apparent until you have both packs side by side. The sternum strap is adjustable, and although it has fixed shoulder straps, this pack fits a variety of torso sizes, making it nice to use as a loaner pack.We must mention that we appreciate that this bag has them, but that’s where the pros stop because they’re just not very functional.

Plus, there’s an emergency whistle incorporated into the buckle, which can come in handy during outdoor excursions. Whether you need an ultralight backpack for hiking or a little more room for daily carry, we dive deep and explore all of the details so you can discover which Osprey backpack is the better choice for your needs. That said, without a robust suspension and with some drawbacks in terms of features, this is a top-ranked backpack that's best for those who need a great urban/mountain crossover pack and is one of our favorites for its versatility and excellent performance around town.During this time it’s seen use as a tech daypack on trips to the coffee house in the UK, and it’s even come along with us on a one month trip to Porto, Portugal. In Osprey’s own words “Should you find any defect in the way your pack has been built we will repair or replace it without any charge, within its reasonable lifetime. They’re not that noticeable at the moment, but the reality is that they’re only going to get worse as the nylon fabric is so susceptible to abrasion. Both the Daylite and Daylite Plus offer similar pocket configurations and share the same front compartment with slip pockets and a key clip.
